Hi Folks,

Welcome to our April 2004 newsletter.  2004 has been a challenging year for us all, particularly with juggling our resources to meet the needs of our growing number of customers. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new customers, and trust that you will enjoy working with the AIE team.  I also would like to specifically thank our fantastic suppliers who are often asked to  pull rabbits out of hats for us and our customers.  We have had some really interesting projects in the past few months, and we also have some new faces on the AIE team.  Enjoy this newsletter, and I wish you all a successful 2004.

A few interesting jobs which have been completed recently:

Chlorine Compressor Refurbishment
A 1905 chlorine compressor was recently completely reconditioned at our Kawerau workshops. This work involved a large range of accurate machining and fitting to ensure the compressor was brought back to "as-new" condition.

Large Propellor Repaired
A 3.3 metre diameter 5 bladed Stainless Steel propellor was checked and Dynamically Balanced at Kawerau after contacting a "solid object" out in the Pacific Ocean.

Large Drive Shaft Manufactured
The main drive shaft for this crusher was manufactured by AIE. Accurate machining of all dimensions was required to ensure the perfect fit at both ends for the mating components. Work also included the drilling of a 12mm diameter hole though the entire longitudinal centre of the shaft for the lubrication during service.

20 Ton Crane Winch Drum
We were recently the successful subcontractor to manufacture and fit up the complete winch drum and gearbox unit for a heavy duty 20 ton crane.
The special gears and Project Management was supplied by Mason Engineering (NZ) Ltd

Function for Clients, Suppliers and Staff
Over 100 of our clients, friends and suppliers attended the AIE function held just prior to Christmas. We all enjoyed a range of activities including archery, axe throwing & electronic clay bird shooting. This was followed by the prize-giving, which saw many spot prizes, and the afternoons winners, (and some "not" winners!) receiving grand prizes with the compliments of our suppliers. Thanks to our suppliers and all those that attended for a great afternoon.

This months tip to stop Procrastinating
"Clear your mind. If you constantly make mental notes about small things you need to do, your mind will be cluttered by trying to remember them. Act on the small things when you see them - leave your mind free for the big things."
