Hon Anne Tolley, MP for East Coast, visited AIE on August 5th. Anne has a passion for business in the Eastern Bay of Plenty and is very supportive of the growth initiatives of local businesses and the flow on effects into the local community. Anne came to meet our new CEO – Kelvin Wright to discuss our current business, plans for future development, and gain an understanding of how this may benefit the local community and region. One of the main topics of discussion was Allied’s development of offshore energy markets through the supply of small hydro power stations into the South Pacific and South East Asian regions.
Further discussion centred on the social and economic challenges in the region and some of the initiatives that Allied are looking to adopt in terms of providing apprenticeships and other employment for the local community. Allied’s strategic development of a specialist division concentrating on renewable energy also sparked some discussion on environmental issues and responsibility within business and the region. Anne was very supportive of our initiatives in growing export sales, importing expertise into the region, social contribution, and our move in the direction of sustainable energy. Furthermore Anne offered her support at any level to help AIE achieve our goals and gain the support of the various government agencies that are specifically designed to promote growth in international markets.
